At the moment, cars can drive at 50 mph down A30 as it dissects the new development at Hounsome Fields. Many of the residents that I have spoken to believe this is far too fast. Worse still, a brand new £17.5million primary school is due to be constructed at the entrance to the Hounsome Fields development and many of the students will need to commute to school everyday across the road.
Given these concerns, Hampshire County Council must improve road safety on the A30 around Beggarwood, Long Acre and Hounsome Fields by creating a Puffin Crossing - the most up to date form of pedestrian crossing - and to reduce the speed limit. Together these two importnat measures would dramatically increase road safety for children and residents alike. It is so important that traffic laws evolve as our town grows.
NB: This petition will run until June 1st on which date it will be submitted to Hampshire County Council. Data will be retained only so long as the issue is live.
