Local MP Maria Miller has welcomed Borough Council’s helpline for vulnerable residents across the borough to register for support such as access to food and medicine during the nationwide lockdown.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council is working with Basingstoke Voluntary Action and Hampshire County Council to provide assistance to residents in need of support with the help of local community organisations.
Maria said “Working with Basingstoke Voluntary Action our Borough Council has done an outstanding job supporting local residents. I welcome this additional support helpline to ensure that residents can continue to get the help that they need during this difficult time. I urge anyone who needs support, or know of anyone who does, to call the helpline so the Borough Council can help urgently.”
Residents with an increased risk of illness are being encouraged to use priority slots provided by supermarkets for shopping, prescription delivery services and support from family and friends. However, residents who do not have this support are being encouraged to register for help by calling the Hampshire Coronavirus Support and Helpline on 0333 370 4000. The helpline is available between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Thursday and between 9am and 4.30pm on Fridays.
