On Thursday the 16th of May, Mark Harper, the Transport Secretary visited Basingstoke to inspect the enormous recent investment in pothole repairs.
Maria said,
“It was brilliant to welcome the Transport Secretary to Basingstoke. Not only are potholes inconvenient, but they also pose a danger to pedestrians and drivers alike. A huge amount of money has already been invested in pothole repairs here in Basingstoke and last November it was announced that £132 million of extra funding will be spent on Hampshire’s roads in coming years. This will make a real difference to journey times and road safety.
In the last year alone, 25,000 potholes were filled, but I know that some remain. The Council must keep up the good work and continue to carry out repair works at pace. Plans are already in place to fix thousands more road defects, but if there is a pothole near you that needs repairing, please report it on the Hampshire County Council website. Hampshire County Council have assured me that all reports are investigated. ’’
